May Day's artiest party, openings, music and movie treats + a tip to visit Berghain without queueing or being rejected at the entrance.

WEDNESDAY 01.05

13.00 Month of Performance Art Berlin - Myfest @ Worldstage im Bullenwinkel - opening + party

WHY: May day should be enough reason to bring you out on the streets of Kreuzberg, but the eventful opening of the 3rd edition of the Month of Performance Art with performances, public interventions and a street party makes it a day truly worth celebrating outdoors.

Naunynstrasse 52, 10999 Berlin, U-Kottbusser Tor / free entrance / more info

THURSDAY 02.05

19.00 Baustelle @ Ozean  - opening

WHY: Dutch artist Maria Roosen's glass blown sculptures will surprise you with the unexpected shapes, often charmingly sensual and random.

21.00 Documentary Donnerstag Part 2 @ Urban Spree – screening + party

WHY: An award winning documentary Golden Slumbers opens the second round of Documentary Donnerstag. If you don't know much about the controversial history of Cambodian cinema, here's the chance to learn something new. You should already know what to expect at this event; if not, the formula is: bar at 19.30 + movie at 21 .00 + food + afterparty.

22.00 Piotr Kurek + Lutto Lento + Debmaster @ Loophole - concert

Loophole / Boddinstrasse 60, 12053 Berlin, U7 Rathaus Neukölln / more info

FRIDAY 03.05

19.00 Before the Beginning @ Scotty Enterprises - opening

WHY: Because you probably asked yourself already how, when and where does the creative process actually begin. Isabel Pauer's drawings offer some answers here.

SATURDAY 04.05

19.00 Invisible Drawings: GREY AREA @ L'Atelier Kunst Spielraum

WHY: As a part of their residency at L'Atelier, visual artist Christine Cheung and dancer/performer Natalie Adams explore the gesturality of their media. We are curious to see how drawing translates into dancing and vice versa.

20.00 Masse @ Halle am Berghain

WHY: World premiere of a ballet show based on electronic music at Berghain is a self-explanatory tip. The famous club demonstrates its cult status in merging with high culture and again hosts a not-to-be-missed event. It should also be interesting to check out if the notorious doorman Sven Marquardt is covering it.
