Since their early beginnings they were sharing the stage with the bands such as Deerhunter, The Black Lips, Yo La Tengo and Thee Oh Sees. After several records on various labels and a critically acclaimed EP, they released their second studio album "Rage Anxiety", praised for its creativity and vitality. Likers of indie rock as it once was, Twerps gig is where you should go Friday night.

MONDAY 25.05

20.00 The Lake presents #6: Happy Birthday Moondog: Hobocombo + Guests w/Felicity Mangan + Iku Sakan (DJ-Set) @ Roter Salon

WHY: Moondog would have turned 99 this year, and legend has it that he preferred his uneven birthdays, so this one would have indeed been a favorite of his. To celebrate this absolutely unique artist, instrument inventor and great inspiration for many composers, The Lake radio has teamed up with Hobocombo, a band dedicated to and inspired by the music of Moondog. Hobocombo will expand their line-up with guests for a special performance of various Moondog compositions.

TUESDAY 26.05

21.00 WAND @ Westgermany

WHY: Their record label describes them as "an obese organ falsely organized as 4 overjoyous nerds. Four flesh balloons betting on a few aging amplifiers." Concert organizers loosely mention the band's connection to Ty Segall, and promise to bring sludge psych titans to the obvious and best place for wizardry of this caliber. WAND's gritty psychedelic sound got us from the first listen; last on our list chronologically, but possibly the most anticipated gig in this round!

Westgermany / Skalitzer Str. 133, 10999 Berlin, U Kottbusser Tor / more info
