FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-How can I post my event/ show in Bigs?
Listings events and shows is not available for free. Bigs is a members-only communication network with an online magazine and a bimonthly printed guide. We are offering a multitude of possibilities to promote your space, shows and program whether you are a non profit organization or a commercial gallery. You can find more information here
-I represent a very low budget- non profit initiative- what are the possibilities to get a promotion for free?
You can register your project space or artist iniative information for free by following this link. This feature is offered to non profit projects only and involves the registration of their main information, location and opening hours. It does not include listings. The membership of registered project spaces could, in the future, be selected to be sponsored by the Adopt a Project Space program.
-What is the Adopt a Project Space program?
Commercial galleries and art institutions joining Bigs, are at the same time "adopting", taking over the fee of a low budget initiatve. Each gallery can choose its own project to support, or be consulted by our team. To find out more click here.
-I am an artist and I would like to show my work in Bigs
There are very few possibilities to show work in Bigs- You could make a suggestion for the next B-side cover of our bimonthly printed guide. Or make a proposal for a drawing-or photo blog as are Strip it Down by Martin Skauen, Attending by Witte Wartena, and our various guest blogs. Please understand we will only answer if interested, and even then it might take a while.
-I am an independent publisher and would like to get my books reviewed in the Book Hook series:
That is great, Rachel Simkover from our team will be more than happy to receive your books. Please find out more here
-I am a writer/ art historian and I would like to write for Bigs:
Bigs motto is: highlighting the art scene from the producer's point of view. In praxis this means that we do not encourage professional writers and journalists to write for us. We are interested in what people practising art have to say about it, about their colleagues, about the market. There are many other options to practise the "conventional" art journalism-copy-paste-review-style, some good- many bad. In Bigs we do not wish to add to that, but focus in what is missing: new ideas, an alternative point of view, fresh reports. Having said that, we are also interested in people of any field trying themselves in any other field- so even if you are a journalist or a writer, feel free to contact the editor with a proposal.
PLEASE NOTE:
Please respect the environment- Do not send any printed invitations or posters. We are connected, an email will suffice for us to know about your event. Thanks!
Please read carefully the information above- when you contact us, reach out for the correct contact partner or, if unsure, send your request to info(at)bpigs. Mass emails and emails send to all of us will be ignored on principle.
