Bpigs budget plan-June 2010
Berlin Independents Guide is a non profit artist run communication network. Focus is highlighting the contemporary art scene from the producer’s point of view.
It operates on two levels: as an info guide with event and exhibition listings and as an online magazine. Admission to the guide is open to everyone. The content of the magazine is strictly editorial. The info guide comes out every two months in 5.000-8.000 copies and it is distributed for free in project spaces, galleries and bookstores. In the online magazine a changing team of artists runs a series of blogs, giving a direct access to behind the scene news and current debates.

-I am an artist and I would like to show my work in Bigs
There are very few possibilities to show work in Bigs- You could make a suggestion for the next B-side cover of our bimonthly printed guide. Or make a proposal for a drawing-or photo blog as are Strip it Down by Martin Skauen, Attending by Witte Wartena, and our various guest blogs. Please understand we will only answer if interested, and even then it might take a while.
-I am an independent publisher and would like to get my books reviewed in the Book Hook series:
Our Book Hook series is currently looking for a new writer. If you like to write and look at artists books, send as an email. More on the Book Hook Series here
-I am a writer/ art historian and I would like to write for Bigs
Bigs motto is: highlighting the art scene from the producer's point of view. In praxis this means that we do not encourage professional writers and journalists to write for us. We are interested in what people practising art have to say about it, about their colleagues, about the market. There are many other options to practise the "conventional" art journalism-copy paste review style, some good- some bad. In Bigs we do not wish to add to that but focus in what is missing: new ideas, an alternative point of view, fresh reports. Having said that, we are also interested in people of any field trying themselves in any other field- so even if you are a journalist or a writer, feel free to contact the editor with a proposal.
